Pay your local taxes in Mijas: IBI and rubbish fee

Mijas collects its own taxes through the council’s Recaudación. In 2026 the voluntary payment period opened on 16 March and runs to 20 November, and the council gives a 5% discount to those who pay by direct debit.

Why it matters
The council’s discount for direct debit only applies if the bank details are in well before the receipt is sent.

What you need

Steps

  1. Check the payment period
The council said for 2026: "el periodo de pago voluntario de impuestos y tasas comenzará el próximo 16 de marzo", "el 6 de abril se girará el abono para la tasa de residuos", and the period "se extenderá hasta el 20 de noviembre."
  2. Set up direct debit (domiciliación)
"Puede domiciliar sus recibos a través de la Sede electrónica (opción recomendable)." The documents must be in two months before the receipt is sent to the bank.
  3. Or pay a receipt that isn’t on direct debit
Use Pago Express on the council’s site (pagosexpress.mijas.es), the electronic office (mijas.sedelectronica.es), or a Recaudación office.
