Departamento de Extranjeros (foreign residents department)
Nerja’s Ayuntamiento runs a dedicated Departamento de Extranjeros (under Turismo y Extranjeros) that helps foreign residents with NIE applications, certificado de residencia, empadronamiento forms, and the Tarjeta 65 discount card, and publishes a residents.nerja.es portal in Spanish/English.
- Why it matters
- Given Nerja’s large British/foreign resident population, this office is the single best starting point for almost all residency paperwork before or alongside visits to Torre del Mar police or the Subdelegación del Gobierno in Málaga.

- Arriving in Nerja as a foreign resident and needing guidance on NIE, residence certificate, padrón, or senior discount cards.
