Rubbish, recycling and Punto Limpio

Nerja collects bulky items (furniture and junk) on request, and runs a municipal recycling point (punto limpio).

Why it matters: New residents need to know bin/container locations, collection days, and where to take bulky waste or hazardous items (punto limpio), but this could not be confirmed from an official source.
When: Moving into a home in Nerja and needing to dispose of household and bulky waste.

Steps

Ask for a bulky-item pickup
Use the council’s online form (sede electrónica), giving your address and the items, or call 952 54 84 00. You can use the yearly collection calendar, ask for a pickup at home, or take the items to a punto limpio.
Put the items out at the right time
If you give notice before 14:00, put the items out from 21:00 (22:00 in summer) for collection the next morning.
Use the punto limpio
It takes appliances, furniture, wood, mattresses, sofas, oils, fluorescent tubes, scrap, glass, plastic and cardboard. In July 2019 the council gave its hours as Monday to Friday 7:00-21:00 and Saturday 7:00-13:00.
