Pet/dog welfare contact point in Rota (Bienestar Animal) and Andalucía-wide RIAA registration
Rota’s Delegación de Bienestar Animal (c/ Compás del Convento, 10) covers responsible pet ownership promotion, sterilization/vaccination programs, and coordination on abandoned/lost animals, but its page does not itself describe the dog/cat chip-registration procedure. Mandatory identification and registration of companion animals in Andalucía (RIAA, Registro Andaluz de Identificación Animal) is governed region-wide by Decreto 92/2005, carried out in practice through a veterinarian who microchips the animal and registers it in the regional database — this is the same process anywhere in Andalucía, with no Rota-specific procedure found.
- Why it matters
- Anyone bringing a dog or cat to live in Rota must have it microchipped and registered under the regional RIAA system via a local veterinarian; this is not a town-hall procedure.
- When
- Bringing a dog/cat to reside in Rota, or acquiring one locally.
