Set up gas and heating in Zaragoza (natural gas, butane, safety inspections)
Homes in Zaragoza may use piped natural gas (a network company maintains pipes and meter; a separate retailer sells and bills the gas), bottled butane at a regulated maximum price, or electric heating; gas installations must be inspected periodically under Aragón rules.
- Why it matters
- Hot water, cooking and heating in many Spanish flats depend on gas, and the supply contract, the periodic inspection and the leak procedure work differently from electricity. Knowing who does what avoids safety problems and cut-offs.
- When
- You move into a home with a gas boiler, hob or radiators, or you are told your flat uses butane bottles.

One Easy to miss, on us
Natural gas installations must pass an inspection every five years. The owner is responsible, or the user (for example a tenant) if there is no owner.
