Get the Tarjeta Ciudadana, Gijón’s free city card (bus discounts, libraries, sports)

The Tarjeta Ciudadana is Gijón’s free multi-purpose municipal card: it identifies you to the council and works as an EMTUSA bus payment card, library and museum card, sports-facility and Gijón-Bici ID and login for the council’s online services. What it saves you: bus fares are discounted once you load money onto the card, transfers between bus lines within 45 minutes are free, and reduced fare categories (such as youth, senior or social) are applied automatically; municipal libraries and museums are free with it.

Why it matters

It is the one municipal card you will use for buses, libraries, sports facilities and the council’s online office, and a passport is enough to apply for it.
