Shop opening on Sundays and holidays in the Canary Islands

Large shops in the Canary Islands may open on Sundays and holidays only on ten days a year, set for each island by a yearly resolution of the regional government. Small shops and shops in declared tourist zones have more freedom.

Why it matters

Most big supermarkets are closed on Sundays and holidays, so you need to know the few days they can open and plan your shopping around them.
