Steps
- Find the local holidays
The official page lists 17 February (Martes de Carnaval) and 24 June (Fundación de la Ciudad) in 2026. - Check when shops may open
The Canary Islands' resolution of 18 November 2025 (BOC 239, 2 December 2025) gives Gran Canaria these 2026 opening days for shops outside the special-hours regime: 4 January, 2 April, 30 May, 15 August, 2 and 29 November and 6, 13, 20 and 27 December. - Plan around closures
Local holidays are paid, non-recoverable days off for workers and count as non-working days for administrative deadlines, so offices may be closed and deadlines can move; check the office’s own page.
