Set up gas and heating in Telde (natural gas, butane, inspections)
The CNMC says piped gas distribution in the Canary Islands exists in only one municipality on another island, so Telde has no piped natural gas to contract: homes that use gas rely on bottled butane or propane, or use electric appliances.
- Why it matters
- Hot water and cooking in Canarian homes often use electricity or bottled gas. Knowing there is no piped-gas contract to set up, and that butane has a regulated maximum price, saves you from searching for a gas retailer that does not exist here.
- When
- You move into a home with a gas boiler, hob or radiators, you are told it uses butane bottles, or you receive an inspection notice.
- How long it takes
- Switching natural-gas retailer: at most 3 weeks. New supply: up to 6 business days to validate plus 6 for the checks (CNMC guide).

The Government’s butane maximum price is a national figure; the authorities of Canarias, Ceuta and Melilla may set variations, up or down, on the marketing costs.
