Ciudad Real public holidays and shop opening days (2026)

The region sets 12 shop-opening Sundays and holidays for 2026, and the city council approved two local holidays (25 May and 22 August) that still need an official confirmation.

Why it matters

Local holidays close offices, schools and many shops, and they move administrative deadlines.

When

You are planning appointments, errands or travel around holidays.

Steps

1. Find the local holidays
Press coverage of the city council’s plenary vote lists Monday 25 May and Saturday 22 August 2026 as the two local holidays. The official list is the provincial bulletin of 15 October 2025; confirm the dates there.
2. Add the regional holidays
The Castilla-La Mancha 2026 calendar page lists 1 and 6 January, 2 and 3 April, 6 April (replacing 19 March), 1 May, 4 June (Corpus Christi, replacing 6 December), 15 August, 12 October, 2 November, 8 December and 25 December.
3. Check when shops may open
   Orden 147/2025 lets shops open on 12 days in 2026: 4 and 11 January, 2 and 6 April, 28 June, 15 August, 12 October, 29 November, 6 December and 13, 20 and 27 December.
4. Plan around closures
Local holidays are paid, non-recoverable days off for workers, so offices and many shops may be closed; check the office’s own page before booking.
