Set up gas and heating in Salamanca
Homes in Salamanca may use piped natural gas (network run by a regulated distributor, supply sold by a separate retailer), bottled butane at a government maximum price, or electric heating; gas installations connected to a network are inspected every five years.
- Why it matters
- Hot water, cooking and heating often depend on gas, and the supply contract, the periodic inspection and the leak procedure work differently from electricity. Knowing who does what avoids safety problems and cut-offs.
- When
- You move into a home with a gas boiler, hob or heating, or you are told the flat uses butane bottles or you must take over a gas supply.
- How long it takes
- Switching natural gas retailer: at most 3 weeks (CNMC).

One Easy to miss, on us
Natural gas installations need an inspection every five years, within the calendar year the period ends; the owner is responsible or, failing that, the user, for example a tenant.
