Barcelona’s two local holidays are 25 May (Dilluns de Pasqua Granada) and 24 September (La Mercè) in 2026; 17 May and 24 September in 2027, as the official page lists them, and the region sets which Sundays and holidays shops may open.

Steps
- Find the local holidays
The official page lists 25 May (Dilluns de Pasqua Granada) and 24 September (La Mercè) in 2026; 17 May and 24 September in 2027. - Add the regional holidays
The Ajuntament’s page lists 14 holidays for each of 2026 and 2027, with the local ones marked (L). - Check when shops may open
Catalonia’s shop-opening calendar for 2026 lists 4 January, 15 August, 12 October, 29 November and 6, 13, 20 and 27 December as shared dates; each council adds two more, and may swap up to two of the shared ones, so the city’s own choice is not on that page. - Plan around closures
Local holidays are paid, non-recoverable days off for workers and count as non-working days for administrative deadlines, so offices may be closed and deadlines can move; check the office’s own page.
