Register on the Girona padró (empadronament)
Apply to the Ajuntament de Girona for your alta in the padró municipal d’habitants using the council’s padronal sheet; since late 2025 registration is no longer instant but resolved by a formal decision after the council checks your documents.
- Why it matters
- The padró is the municipal register of residents; the council states everyone who habitually lives in Girona must register, and many other procedures (swimming-pool pass, school places, municipal housing office) draw on it.
- When
- You move to an address in Girona from another municipality or from abroad.
- How long it takes
- Legal maximum 3 months (positive silence if no reply); the council says it aims to resolve ordinary cases within days (per a 3Cat report).
