Set up gas and heating in Reus (natural gas, butane, inspections)
A home in Reus may have piped natural gas (pipes and meter belong to a regulated distributor, the gas is sold by a retailer you choose), bottled butane at a government maximum price, or electric heating; piped-gas installations are inspected every five years.
- Why it matters
- Hot water, cooking and heating in many Spanish flats depend on gas, and the contract, the periodic inspection and the leak procedure work differently from electricity. Knowing who does what avoids safety problems and cut-offs.
- When
- You move into a home with a gas boiler, hob or radiators, you are told it uses butane bottles, or you receive an inspection notice.
- How long it takes
- Switching natural-gas retailer: at most 3 weeks. New supply: up to 6 business days to validate plus 6 for the checks (CNMC guide).
