Steps

  1. Find the local holidays
The Generalitat’s open-data calendar lists 23 September for Sitges in 2026. Ordre EMT/3/2026 (DOGC, 20 January 2026) amends the base order to read 24 August and 23 September for Sitges.
  2. Add the regional holidays
    The Generalitat’s official calendar lists these 2026 holidays for Catalonia: 1 and 6 January, 3 and 6 April, 1 May, 24 June, 15 August, 11 September, 12 October, 8 December, 25 and 26 December.
  3. Check when shops may open
The Generalitat’s commerce advisory council approved eight general shop-opening dates for 2026: 4 January, 15 August, 12 October, 29 November, and 6, 13, 20 and 27 December. Each council adds two more days and may replace up to two of the general dates, so the town’s own days can differ.
  4. Plan around closures
Local holidays are paid, non-recoverable days off for workers and count as non-working days for administrative deadlines, so offices may be closed and deadlines can move; check the office’s own page.
