Pay your local taxes in Altea: IBI and rubbish fee
In Altea the property tax (IBI) and the rubbish fee are collected through Suma Gestión Tributaria, the Alicante provincial tax body. For 2026 Suma’s calendar gave 27 July to 8 October for IBI and 5 March to 11 May for the rubbish fee (TRRSU). You can set up direct debit (domiciliación) with Suma.
- Why it matters
- A new owner gets yearly local tax bills with fixed payment windows. Missing the voluntary period means a surcharge, so it helps to know who bills and when before the first bill arrives.
- When
- You bought or own a home in Altea and need to know how and when to pay the yearly IBI and the rubbish fee.
- How long it takes
- 2026 periods: rubbish fee and vehicle tax 5 March to 11 May; IBI 27 July to 8 October.
- Last checked
- 25 Oct 2026
Cost: The pages read state no tax amounts. The IBI depends on your property’s cadastral value and the council’s rate; the rubbish fee is set by the council.
What you need
- The receipt’s CSV code (from the original voluntary-period receipt) for online or phone direct debit.
- For phone direct debit, the caller must be the holder of both the receipt and the account.
- For direct debit in person at a Suma office: identification and the IBAN of an account in your name.
Steps
- Find the bill and the payment window
Suma Gestión Tributaria, run by the Diputación de Alicante, collects local taxes for municipalities in the province, including Altea. Its 2026 calendar lists two periods for these municipalities: 5 March to 11 May 2026 for the vehicle tax (IVTM), the rubbish fee (TRRSU), vados and other fees; and 27 July to 8 October 2026 for IBI (urban, rural and special-characteristics), IAE and municipal fees. After the voluntary period, unpaid bills carry the apremio surcharge, late-payment interest and costs. - Choose how to pay
Suma’s payment page lists: card or Bizum online with the payment reference or the CSV code printed on the receipt; the Sede / Mi carpeta area with digital identification; payment by phone; collaborating banks (entidades colaboradoras); Suma offices (central office: Plaza San Cristóbal, 1, 03002 Alicante); an installment plan (pago fraccionado); and postal order (giro postal). Customer line: 965 292 000, Monday to Friday 8:00 to 21:00 and Saturday 10:00 to 14:00. - Set up direct debit if you want it
Suma says you can set up direct debit at any time up to 15 days before the end of the voluntary period. Online (only for receipts in the voluntary period) you need the CSV code of the original receipt; by phone on 965 292 000 the holder of the receipt and the account must call, with the same CSV code; in person at a Suma office you identify yourself and give the IBAN of an account in your name, or you can sign the order when paying at a collaborating bank. The charge date is announced for each period and falls in the last days of the payment period, so keep enough balance. Suma will email the details only if you have authorized it.
