Help Desk / Concejalía de Atención al Residente (foreign-residents department)
Xàbia has run a dedicated 'Help Desk' for more than a decade, under the Concejalía de Atención al Residente (also referred to in municipal news as Relación con los Residentes), to help the town’s large foreign-resident population do administrative paperwork in their own language, including help with padrón renewals, certificates and official forms.
- Why it matters
- Directly addresses the language barrier many American and other non-Spanish-speaking newcomers face with Spanish bureaucracy; also organizes free Spanish-language courses for registered foreign residents.
- When
- Needing help understanding or completing any municipal paperwork in English, Dutch, French or German, or wanting to learn Spanish.
- How long it takes
- Immediate/same-visit assistance for most paperwork questions
