Steps

  1. Find the local holidays
The Junta’s page on the Dirección General de Trabajo resolution (DOE, 23 October 2025) lists 17 February and 24 June for Badajoz in 2026.
  2. Add the regional holidays
The Junta lists 12 regional holidays for 2026: 1 and 6 January, 2 and 3 April, 1 May, 15 August, 8 September (Día de Extremadura), 12 October, 1 November (rest day moves to Monday 2 November), 6 December (rest day moves to Monday 7 December), 8 December and 25 December. For 2027 the decree lists 1 and 6 January, 25 and 26 March, 1 May, 15 August (rest day Monday 11 October), 8 September, 12 October, 1 November, 6 and 8 December and 25 December.
  3. Check when shops may open
The Junta lists these Sundays and holidays when shops may open in 2026: 11 January, 2 April, 15 August, 12 October, 2 November, 29 November, 7 December and 20 December, plus two more days each council chooses.
  4. Plan around closures
Local holidays are paid, non-recoverable days off for workers and count as non-working days for administrative deadlines, so offices may be closed and deadlines can move; check the office’s own page.
