Calvià public holidays and shop opening days (2026 and 2027)

The two local holidays in Calvià come on top of the national and regional ones, and the region sets which Sundays and holidays shops may open.

Why it matters

Offices, schools and many shops close on holidays, and a local holiday that falls on a weekday can close the town hall and cancel an appointment you planned.

When

You are planning errands, appointments or a Sunday shop around a holiday.

How long it takes

Regions publish the next year’s holiday and shop-opening lists in the autumn; check again in the new year.

Steps

1. Check Calvià’s local holidays
Calvià’s two local holidays for 2026 are 24 Jun (Wed, San Juan) and 16 Jul (Thu, Virgen del Carmen). The BOIB annex lists the village of es Capdellà separately, with 20 Jan (San Sebastián).
2. Add the regional and national holidays
Illes Balears 2026 (BOIB 129, 27 Sep 2025): 1 Jan (Thu), 6 Jan (Tue), 2 Mar (Mon, day after Día de les Illes Balears), 2 Apr (Holy Thursday), 3 Apr (Good Friday), 6 Apr (Easter Monday), 1 May (Fri), 15 Aug (Sat), 12 Oct (Mon), 8 Dec (Tue), 25 Dec (Fri) and 26 Dec (Sat).
3. Know the Sundays and holidays shops may open
The Govern’s page of 3 Oct 2025 gives the shop-opening calendar the Comisión Interinsular Asesora de Comercio approved for 2026: 4 Jan, 18 Jan, 8 Mar, 2 Apr, 15 Aug, 6 Sep, 29 Nov, 6 Dec, 20 Dec and 26 Dec. Town councils can substitute 15 Aug and 6 Sep. The BOIB resolution itself was not read.
4. Plan ahead for 2027
Calvià’s local holidays for 2027 are 24 Jun (Thu, San Juan) and 16 Jul (Fri, Virgen del Carmen); es Capdellà has 20 Jan (San Sebastián), 16 Jul and 5 Aug, as listed in BOIB 122. BOIB 122 of 29 Sep 2026 publishes the 2027 calendar: 1 Jan (Fri), 6 Jan (Wed), 1 Mar (Mon), 25 Mar (Holy Thursday), 26 Mar (Good Friday), 29 Mar (Easter Monday), 1 May (Sat), 12 Oct (Tue), 1 Nov (Mon), 6 Dec (Mon), 8 Dec (Wed) and 25 Dec (Sat).
