Catalan and Spanish: co-official languages

Catalan (the Balearic variety) and Spanish are both official in the Balearic Islands under the Statute of Autonomy.

Why it matters

Signs, school instruction and administration use Catalan alongside Spanish.

When

From arrival, especially if you have children in school or deal with local administration.
