Ukrainian temporary protection: the card and its renewal
Temporary protection for people displaced from Ukraine gives a residence and work permit for its whole duration, including self-employment. Orden INT/96/2026 extended the validity of cards already issued directly and automatically until 4 March 2027, with no new card needed. In August 2026 the EU extended temporary protection to 4 March 2028; a matching Spanish card extension was not found as of 20 October 2026.
