Prescriptions and what you pay at the pharmacy
Prescriptions from the public health system are electronic. You collect the medicine at a pharmacy with your health card and pay a share of the price (the aportación farmacéutica) set by law. The percentage and monthly cap depend on the group you are in and on income.
- Why it matters
- After you have a health card, the pharmacy is where you use it. The rules for the share you pay changed in May 2026, so the figures on this card are dated and may not yet be applied to every person.
- When
- A doctor in the public system has prescribed you a medicine, or you want to know how the share you pay is set.
