Hiring someone to work in your home (cleaner, nanny, carer)

If you employ someone in your home, you are the employer. The Seguridad Social page says you must register the worker in the household employment scheme (Sistema Especial de Empleo de Hogar) before they start, agree the terms, and pay contributions every month.

Why it matters
Many households hire a cleaner, a nanny or a carer. This card describes what the Seguridad Social pages say the employer must do; it does not say how any particular arrangement is classified.
When
You plan to have someone work in your home for pay.
