Madrid Aulas de Enlace for newly-arrived foreign students

Madrid’s Aulas de Enlace are dedicated classrooms (5-12 students) in publicly-funded schools for students newly arrived in the Spanish education system from 3rd year of Primaria onward who lack Spanish language proficiency; the standard placement lasts 9 months (extendable by up to 6 more months in exceptional cases) and is arranged through the family’s school admission application via the local Servicio de Apoyo a la Escolarización (SAE).
