Enroll a child in school
Admissions to publicly funded schools in Región de Murcia run on two tracks: an ordinary-phase window each stage sets by its own annual BORM resolution (roughly Feb-Jun), and a year-round permanent phase (fase permanente de escolarización) for arrivals outside that window; non-Spanish-speaking newcomers can get temporary support in an 'aula de acogida' at authorized schools.
- Why it matters
- Newcomer families usually arrive outside the main admission window.
- When
- Moving to the Región with school-age children, or any time after the regular window.
- How long it takes
- Ordinary phase 2026-27: first-cycle Infantil (0-3) applications 27 Feb-18 Mar 2026, provisional lists 14 May 2026, final lists/enrollment 12-18 Jun 2026 (BORM resolution of 4 Feb 2026); second-cycle Infantil and Primaria applications 27 Feb-18 Mar 2026, provisional lists 21 May 2026, final lists/enrollment 18-24 Jun 2026, extraordinary-phase applications 15 Jun-23 Jul 2026 (BORM resolution of 10 Feb 2026); ESO and Bachillerato governed by the Dirección General’s resolution of 4 Feb 2026 — confirmed partial dates only (school-side processing through 26 Mar 2026; provisional-list claims window 4-11 Jun 2026), full annexes not retrieved; a separate restricted Bachillerato procedure for 4º ESO students at capacity-limited concertados runs applications 9-12 Feb 2026, final lists 26 Feb 2026 (BORM resolution of 29 Jan 2026). Permanent phase 2026-27 (for mid-year/late arrivals, unchanged from our earlier check): Infantil first cycle 1 Jul 2026 to 31 May 2027; Infantil 2nd cycle and Primaria 27 Jul 2026 to 31 May 2027; ESO and Bachillerato 29 Sep 2026 to 31 May 2027. Permanent committees assign places 1 Oct 2026 to 31 May 2027, generally in order of entry; late entrants into compulsory stages can apply up to 14 Jun 2027 with decisions by 16 Jun 2027.
