Steps
- Find the local holidays
Decreto 82/2025 (BOPV, 25 April 2025) allows up to two local holidays per municipality, set by the Territorial Labor Delegation on the town council’s proposal; Donostia’s dates were not found on an official page. - Add the regional holidays
For 2026 the decree lists 1 and 6 January, 19 March, 2, 3 and 6 April, 1 May, 25 July, 15 August, 12 October, 8 December and 25 December; Decreto 90/2026 (BOPV, 16 July 2026) lists 1 and 6 January, 25, 26 and 29 March, 1 May, 7 October, 12 October, 1 November, 6 December, 8 December and 25 December for 2027. - Check when shops may open
No official page listing Sundays and holidays when shops may open was found for the Basque Country; check the Basque Government’s commerce department. - Plan around closures
Local holidays are paid, non-recoverable days off for workers and also affect administrative deadlines, so offices may be closed; check the office’s own page.
