Set up gas and heating in Vitoria-Gasteiz (natural gas, butane, safety inspections)
Homes in Vitoria-Gasteiz may use piped natural gas (a network company maintains pipes and meter; a separate retailer sells and bills the gas), bottled butane at a regulated maximum price, or electric heating; gas installations must be inspected periodically under the Basque Country rules.
- Why it matters
- Hot water, cooking and heating in many Spanish flats depend on gas, and the supply contract, the periodic inspection and the leak procedure work differently from electricity. Knowing who does what avoids safety problems and cut-offs.
- When
- You move into a home with a gas boiler, hob or radiators, or you are told your flat uses butane bottles.
