Good to know · Housing
Check housing aid you may qualify for in Jaén and Andalucía
In Jaén the main public housing help comes from the Junta de Andalucía (Bono Alquiler Joven for ages 18-35, now provisionally closed) and from the municipal register of applicants for protected housing (Registro Municipal de Demandantes de Vivienda Protegida); each has its own income, residence and paperwork rules and none is automatic.
- Why it matters
- Rent is usually a newcomer’s biggest cost. Knowing early which programs exist, which are closed, and that protected housing needs a registration first helps you plan. Non-EU applicants for the Bono need regular stay or residence in Spain.
- When
- You rent or are about to rent in Jaén and want to know whether a public aid or an affordable-rent scheme could apply to you or your household.
- How long it takes
- Bono Alquiler Joven: six months to resolve (convocatoria, per the Junta). Protected-housing registration lasts 3 years.
