Enroll a child in school in Asturias
Children are admitted to publicly funded schools through a yearly Asturian admission process run by the Consejería de Educación; families who arrive outside the ordinary period apply directly through the nearest school.
- Why it matters
- Schooling is compulsory and free from age 6 to 16, and the ordinary application window is short (spring), so families arriving mid-year or in summer need to know the fallback route.
- When
- You have a child aged 3-16+ who will live in Asturias, or you arrive outside the spring application window.

The family address is proved with a historical padrón volante showing who lives there, and registration there must date back at least six months before the process starts, except in properly documented circumstances.
