Work remotely for a US employer (international telework residence)
Non-EU nationals who work remotely for companies outside Spain can apply for an international telework visa or residence authorization (Ley 14/2013 as amended by Ley 28/2022), and the US-Spain Social Security agreement decides which country’s Social Security applies.
- Why it matters
- If you keep a US job or US clients while living in Spain, this is the route Spain built for it, but it comes with income, experience and insurance conditions; tax and Social Security consequences should be checked with a professional.
- When
- You want to live in Spain while employed by, or freelancing for, mostly non-Spanish companies.
- How long it takes
