Taxis and ride-hailing (VTC) in Spain

Spain has two kinds of paid car rides: regular taxis, and VTC cars (vehículo de turismo con conductor), which are booked in advance, usually through an app. This card explains the difference for a passenger and why the rules vary by place.

Why it matters
Knowing which service you are using tells you how to book, how the price is set and who to complain to.
When
You need a ride in Spain and you see both taxis and app-booked cars.
