Use the OMII (municipal immigrant information office)
The Oficina Municipal de Información a Inmigrantes (OMII), part of Gijón’s social-services foundation (FMSS), gives free information and guidance on immigration paperwork and issues two municipal reports (informe de integración social and informe de vivienda adecuada) plus group workshops.
- Why it matters
- It is the one Gijón office built around newcomer needs: it explains extranjería procedures (renewals, arraigo, family reunification, nationality, homologation of studies), runs workshops (including how to use the extranjería e-filing tools) and issues municipal reports some residence procedures require.
- When
- You have a question about immigration paperwork or integration in Gijón, need an integration or adequate-housing report for a residence procedure, or want to join an OMII workshop/course.
- How long it takes
- Both reports are issued within one month of the request and are valid for 6 months from the signature date.
