Make a consumer complaint (OMIC Gijón, hoja de reclamaciones, consumer arbitration)
If a shop, service or contract in Gijón goes wrong, you can ask for an official 'hoja de reclamaciones' at the business and then file it with Gijón’s OMIC (Oficina Municipal de Información al Consumidor), which can mediate with the company, or request free consumer arbitration if the company has joined the system.
- Why it matters
- Foreign residents are covered by the same consumer protection as locals, and the OMIC gives free information and mediation, but its rules about where the business is located and what types of dispute it handles are strict.
- When
- A business in Gijón refuses a refund, delivers a defective product or poor service, or you were overcharged, and the seller will not fix it.
